Depending on what state you live in, that process can take some time. Regardless of where you bought it, you’ll most likely need a temporary license plate for your car until your registration is complete. While some of these reasons might not apply to your state, here is a generalized breakdown. There are a multitude of reasons why you would find yourself in need of a temporary tag. A valid temp tag is required to drive a vehicle for which you do not yet have license plates. A temporary license plate proves that you own a vehicle for which you have applied for a full registration that has yet to arrive.
